Are your servers Unix / Linux, or Windows NT?

All our servers run on CloudLinux/CentOS 6/7 Linux, which is identical to Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Can I get a static or dedicated IP address?

You can apply for a dedicated IP for our VPS Hosting services by contacting our billing department and asking for a dedicated IP. Please note that a dedicated IP costs £1.50 extra per month or £18.00 year. You will be the only one with the IP address.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes, you may pay Monthly or Annually.

Free Domain Registration is included for the first year of hosting on all of our hosting services and plans.

Can I view your server uptime stats?

Yes you may. All our server uptime stats are located here.

Do you charge VAT?

What is VAT?

VAT (Value Added Tax) is a tax on consumption within the EU.

Our prices are inclusive of VAT and the rate depends on the EU state you are from. You will be charged VAT at your local country’s rate. VAT is itemised separately on your invoice. We have not raised our prices since registering for VAT giving you excellent value for money 

Who gets charged VAT?

Anyone with an address in the EU will be charged VAT at the rate of their country as per the new VAT law that was put in as of the 1st January 2015 as can be seen on HMRC’s website

If you are outside of the EU, the price will stay the same as we haven’t increased our prices to reflect VAT. Your invoice will show 0% VAT as you have not been charged VAT on your service.

If you are in the EU, and have a valid VAT number please submit a billing ticket and provide your VAT number so we can remove the VAT from your invoice.

Do you charge VAT to UK clients?

No, we do not charge VAT to UK consumers or businesses.

Do you provide Custom Plans?

If you require a custom plan please contact us first. Please let us know how much Diskspace, Bandwidth, as well as other resources you may require and provide us a budget you would like us to work with. We will be able to get back to you within 24 hours with a quote.

Please note: We will mostly favour custom plans that go above and beyond our highest packages.

We can handle domain registrations for you here, however you are always welcome to use others registrars.

How can I test your connection?

For any information regarding ping/traceoute or download speed test files please contact us and we will glady provide this information to you.

How do I add more space and bandwidth beyond your largest package?

If you need more space and bandwidth (we included unlimited bandwidth on all services) than we provide in our largest packages, please contact HostXNow Billing via our ticketing system and we will get back to you with a quote of a custom upgrade. That may take up to 24 hours for a response.

We have the right to reject custom upgrades if they seem too outrageous and/or inconsistent. For questions, please contact HostXNow Billing for assistance.

How long does it take to setup my account?

All services are setup with 1-2 hours (usually within 10 minutes).

Are you a Reseller?

No, we are not resellers. We lease all of our servers directly from the data centre and have full root access. So there are no middlemen to deal with here.

Can I host friends?

Yes, you can host sites for your friends on your Shared Web Hosting account, as long as you are not charging them money for hosting. Shared Web Hosting customers may not resell their hosting to other people. If you wish to resell Web Hosting, you must use a Reseller Hosting account.

Can I host my videos here?

Yes. You can host videos using popular scripts such as Dolphin, ClipBucket etc. 

We support the following: ffmpeg, Mplayer, A52decoder, Amrnb and Amrwb, All codecs, facc and faad2, Ruby, fdk-aac, vo-aacenc, vo-amrwbenc, flvtool2, Git, Lame, Libogg, Libvorbis, Libtheora, Libspeex, Libflac, Libao, Libwmf, opencoreamr, vorbistools, X264, MP4Box, Xvidcore, Yasm, LibOggz and Yamdi.

Can you install a script on my account?

Most scripts can be automatically installed for FREE with Softaculous, an auto installer available on the client’s control panel, but we can install the script for you if you need us to.

These are the only limits we have in place. Also, for Resellers, the limits are per subaccount not the whole Reseller account i.e resources are not shared between all cPanel accounts hosted under the Reseller, rather the resources can be used for each cPanel account (better!).

These are some of the reasons why our Web Hosting and Reseller Hosting plans are much faster compared to our competitors.

Memory allocation was doubled at no extra cost to the customer on 22/04/2021.

Do you allow Adult Content?

We allow websites with legal adult content only.

We do not allow pornographic or sexually-explicit images of children or any pictures/video which are obtained illegally to host on our servers.

Do you offer Live Chat?

We have been offering Web Hosting with 24×7 Live Chat Technical Support for all of our hosting services, since April 2016. For Sales, Live Chat is usually available between the hours of 8am – 2am [UK Time], 7 days a week).

Live Chat is a very helpful service for people who do not have instant messaging services and do not like to wait for support ticket emails. How can I restore my account backup from my old host?

If you have a backup of your account that has been generated by cPanel, we can restore it for you and your website will have the same exact information (password, emails, website, databases). If you would like to restore it, please upload it somewhere on your account and send a ticket using our support system and one of our system administrators will import it for you.

IMPORTANT: You should be sure that your current account has nothing on it because it will be discarded before importing your new account.

How do I login to Client Area and cPanel?

Your web hosting login information should have been emailed to you. If you haven’t received the email, please check your junk/spam folder and please note emails may take a few hours to get to your inbox. If you still do not get the email within a day, please submit a support ticket or contact us and we will be more than happy to help you out.

How to contact HostXNow?

To submit a support ticket please click on the Client Area link in our navigation bar and then click Submit Ticket to submit a ticket.

You will first have to choose a department. If you want to ask Support related questions about your account, please click support. If you have any Sales Questions before you buy a package from us, click that and submit. If you are an existing client who has a question about your bill or how you are billed, click billing and submit your question.

In the form provided please give us a valid name and a valid email address so we know how to address you and where to answer your question. Give us a short subject, generally the problem or question you might have, and then elaborate in the description. Select your Urgency level, put in the Captcha if you are not logged in and click submit.

Please allow up to 12 hours for someone to get back to you. And please make sure you submit your ticket to the right department otherwise this will heavily delay your response because now the ticket has to be bounced to the correct department and it will be put at the end of the line.

We now use Imunify360. You should not be blocked due to the technology that Imunify360 uses, but if you are, please contact [email protected]

JetBackup – What is JetBackup and how can I use it?

JetBackup is the most popular backup software used to backup cPanel servers due to the software being more advanced than the default backup system included with cPanel itself.

We use JetBackup to back up our servers for extra peace of mind.

JetBackup is an excellent software as it allows you to generate and download a copy of your site as it is right now by using the snapshot feature, as well as grants you access to the backups we’ve already taken. Usually, there is one restoration point per night, and we keep 7 to 31 restoration points at a time.

If you want to generate and/or download a full backup of your account or even partial backups of your account as it is right now you will want to do that via cPanel -> JetBackup -> Snapshots and click “Create new Snapshot”. 

Please note: this will only work if your backup is no more than 5GB in filesize and is not using more than 200,000 inodes. Also, you can only have 1 Snapshot per account, and the Snapshots are deleted automatically after 3 days. If your backup is over that limit but would still like a copy of it, please create a ticket, and we will generate the backup for you.

There are numerous options with JetBackup such as Full Account Backups, File Backups and Database Backups to name a few. You may check the features in full at the official JetBackup website here

IMPORTANT: The JetBackup System is our disaster recovery platform, and while we let you use it, we do not guarantee that it will meet your needs or that it will be accessible at all times and under all circumstances. We offer JetBackup on a best-effort basis, and there will be occasions where maintenance or other problems result in the system being unavailable for end-user access.

What are nameservers

A Domain’s Nameserver tells the domain where to point to. If you purchased a hosting Plan from, you should have received an account information email which tells you what nameservers to point your domain to.

Just visit your domain registrar, click on the domain, and change the nameservers. Each registrar has a different method so please read their FAQs on how to change NameServers. We have listed some of the most popular domain registers on our DNS Changes articles. You may also want to create your own Private Nameservers or Custom Nameservers

If you haven’t received the email from, it could be that your account has yet to be set up, or it has been delayed. You should also check your Spam/Junk mail folder.

If you do not receive a new hosting welcome email within an hour or so, please contact support for assistance.

Will you transfer my accounts?

If you are using cPanel control panel on your old hosting account, then we can transfer all your websites, email accounts, your databases to our cPanel Linux Hosting respectively at no additional charge. If your old hosting account is cPanel based, then please follow our Account Migrations guide.
